Our Services

Service Dog Training

    1. Litter Evaluation

The process for service dog training usually starts with the evaluation of a litter of pups at 7 weeks old to see which dogs in the litter would make the best service dog prospects.

Olivia has connections with multiple breeders with whom she’s trained many service dogs out of their lines.

See litter evaluation section for more information.

    2. Basic Obedience Training

Puppy learns to master basic commands such as sit, down, wait, stay, leave it, leash walking, crate training, potty training, and house manners as well as socialization.

Once the dog is solid in Basic Obedience then we move on to doing obedience training in public dog friendly places.

    3. Public Access Training

Dog learns how to behave in multiple public places which they would most likely encounter as service dogs. We travel to multiple locations such as restaurants, malls, grocery stores, swimming pools, movie theatres, doctors offices, dentist offices, theme parks, and sporting events.

We make sure the dog learns how to behave and respond correctly with all of the potential stimuli that they may encounter in these situations.

Dog begins to take trips with handler so that handler and dog learn to work together as a team with trainer support.

    4. Task Training

Task training is the process of teaching dogs the specific tasks that their disabled handler needs support with

We train multiple types of service dogs including deaf/hearing dogs, mobility dogs, seizure alert dogs, autism dogs, PTSD dogs, and psychiatric service dogs.

Dogs are trained to assist their handler with different tasks depending on handlers needs such as alerting to fire alarm or name, anxiety alerts, seizure alerts and response, getting help/ using phone to call for help, picking up dropped objects, assisting with mobility support, calming a handler during anxiety attacks using deep pressure therapy and much more.

  • Training a service dog is typically a 2-3 year process.

We want to make sure the dog is completely ready and able to help their handler before final placement and this takes time.

We will NOT place a service dog full time with handler until training is complete.

There are many dog/handler visits along the way to make sure bonding happens but we ensure that our dogs are fully equipped for the tasks at hand before final placement.

  • Usually service dog training is done as board and train format where the dog lives at Olivia’s home training studio in (Churchville, MD) for the first 4-6 months and then begins dogs begin having visit days, weekends, and eventually weeks with handler.

We require dogs to be potty trained, crate trained, have house manners, some basic obedience, and leash trained before full visit days occur.

We do also have an owner training option where dog lives primarily with future handler and Olivia meets with dog and handler on a weekly basis to help guide training.

If you wish to owner train you dog, you must be extremely dedicated to suggested training routine and be able to commit to multiple training sessions with your dog throughout the day.

  • A fully trained service dog is $15,000.

There are multiple payment plans available to clients.

This training fees do not include the purchase price of the dog, cost of food, routine vet care or ER visits, that the animal may need as these are the future handlers financial responsibilities.

When doing an evaluation we look for pups that are emotionally intune and connected to people for best ESA outcomes.

Litter Temperament Evaluations

(Service Dogs/ESA Dogs)

  • We test puppies at 7 weeks using a Volhard Puppy Aptitude Test.

This evaluation helps predict which puppies in would be more suitable for candidates service work or ESA work.

This does not guarantee that the puppy will become a service dog as there are other factors later in life that can cause dog to wash of service work.

Think of the evaluations as looking at the litter as a whole and seeing who in that litter may be best suited as a working dog vs other puppies in same litter.

Once we complete a Volhard Test on the entire litter I will recommend which dog or dogs would be the best candidates for you.

  • Testing is done by Olivia in a non- bias setting. The puppies at 7 weeks have never met the tester or the evaluator.

The test is usually done over one day and results are confirmed by end of day.

Selections are made and training begins.

  • Temperament Test

If getting completing training for service dog or ESA placement with Olivia the litter evaluation is included in training price.

if just wanting a litter evaluation its $100 for evaluation.

    Travel Expenses

Families must pay the travel expenses for our evaluators to go test litters.
